YOUNGSTOCK FOALS MARES STALLIONS Reference Mares

Tawna Razzle Dazzle

Sire: South Sands Jackanapes

Dam: Tawna Merryn

We sadly lost this beautiful mare in March 2014. We miss her very much but she left a great legacy having produced seven gorgeous daughters - Twinkle, Star, Debutante, Dilly Dally, Daisy May, Dolly Dimple and Topsy Turvy, some of which have been retained

Tawna Merryn

Sire: Kerswell Musketeer

Dam: Tawna Cornish Cream

One of our favourites - a real feisty attractive multi-Championship winning mare. Consistently produced top quality stock who won many championships including the well known gelding - Viceroy, two licensed stallions (both abroad) and several daughters, grand-daughters, and great grand-daughters retained in the stud.

Tawna Cornish-Cream

Sire: Birling Induna

Dam: Tawna Custard Cream

A stunningly glamorous mare with the longest imaginable stride. Championship winning herself, her offspring were always very attractive, free moving and successful in the show ring. Retired from breeding, and in her thirties now companion to a Thoroughbred in North Cornwall.

Tawna Floribunda

Sire: Tawna Sherbert

Dam: Tawna Merry Morning

A very endearing mare - the friendliest pony we've ever known. Her super temperament was passed on to her foals. Although we never showed Flora, her offspring were of consistently good type.

Tawna Kayna

Sire: Brandon Fiery Jack

Dam: Tawna Mabyn

This lovely sturdy mare is a really good type. Her mother is a full sister to Tawna Merryn. Kayna had five foals for us before being sold to a stud in Finland.

Tawna Morwenna

Sire: Brandon Fiery Jack

Dam: Tawna Merryn

A stunning full sister to Tawna Lowenna….so full of quality and such a gorgeous colour. Mo produced seven superb foals for us, mostly by Kerswell Nutcracker, several of which have enjoyed considerable success in the show ring.

Tawna Polonaise

Sire: Kerswell Musketeer

Dam: Tawna Polka

Such a pretty girl. When she gave us a delightful replacement filly (grey and white skewbald) -  Gizelle, we rather reluctantly sold Polly to be a pantomime pony!

Tawna Mermaid

Sire: Brandon Fiery Jack

Dam: Tawna Milkmaid

Mermaid’s mother - Milkmaid produced four licensed stallions - Morse, Yeoman, Trotsky and Trooper - full brothers. Mermaid’s own foals - five fillies and a colt - have all been like her, full of presence and exceptionally attractive. We have retained two dun & white fillies - Marina and Meredith.

Tawna Bijou

Sire: Tawna Sherbert

Dam: Tawna Bay-Bea

At one time we had three full sisters in the stud, but “Beej” was always our favourite. An exceptionally gentle and level-headed mare, she was a superb mother and produced eight foals, before going to live with a psycho-therapist to help her in her therapy work. All “Beej’s” foals have been small...but with giant personalities!

Tawna Rosebud

Sire: Kerswell Musketeer

Dam: Tawna Floribunda

Mother of two section winners in the National In-Hand Show Awards 2008 - Rosella and our fabulous stallion, Rubus!

Rosy is a lovely type of mare - County show Junior Champion, only time shown. She is now retired and performing companion duties in South Cornwall.

Tawna Tiptoe

Sire: Kerswell Musketeer

Dam: Tawna Fancy That

Born 1995 This very lovely, sweet-natured mare was an exceptional pony from the beginning. One of our most successful show ponies, at County level, and even at the International Shetland Show - a 2nd prize in a huge class  in 1996. Two of the four foals she had are licensed stallions - Dundee (now in Shetland) and Black Jack.

Tawna Scarlet

Sire: Brandon Fiery Jack

Dam: Tawna Mabyn

A smart, upstanding girl - very much her father's daughter! Scarlet is very pretty, has a lot of presence, a big stride, and attitude! She was only shown as a yearling when she did very well  including 2 x Reserve Championships. Produced three foals for us by Kerswell Nutcracker.

Tawna Gizelle

Sire: Brandon Fiery Jack

Dam: Tawna Polonaise

This was a sweet and utterly charming young mare - the last offspring by our dear Fiery Jack who is now at the Gue stud in the Shetland Isles.

Ever since the early days of the stud we had kept a few greys. It was a terrible tragedy when Gizella had to be prematurely pts. She had given us two very pretty daughters who we had already sold - so sadly that is the end of our line of greys.ich here for pedigree chart

Tawna Coriander

Sire: Kirkstall Achilles

Dam: Tawna Saffron

Corrie was a great favourite from the moment she was born - lovely head and eye, with always her sire's pleasant expression and pricked ears.

This girl really has the 'look at me' factor; prize winning in youngstock classes, she has only been out three times as an adult - always in the ribbons inc. 1 x Res Champ. Sold to go abroad.

Tawna Star

Sire: Brandon Fiery Jack

Dam: Tawna Razzle Dazzle

National In-Hand Show Awards Scheme - section runner-up. A truly beautiful little girl who was out of the same mare as our lovely Twinkle. Shown seven times as a two year old, she won 6 x 1st & 1 x 4th . Only shown  a few times - successfully - as an adult.

Tragically we lost her Jan 2018, but are glad that we have her cream dun daughter - Celeste, in the stud.

Tawna Honeysuckle

Sire: Kerswell Nutcracker

Dam: Tawna Honey-Bea

Due to cutting back on numbers we decided not to breed from this attractive mare. She has gone to a lovely home where she has been professionally broken and is being used by children.

Tawna Lowenna

Sire: Brandon Fiery Jack

Dam: Tawna Merryn

One of Audrey’s favourites - a classy and extremely beautiful, quality daughter of Tawna Merryn. Her presence and exceptionally free movement  have ensured her several show wins. Lightly shown, she has collected many Championships. After five foals, she decided motherhood is too much effort, and is now a companion pony!

Tawna Rosella

Sire: Kerswell Russet

Dam: Tawna Rosebud

National In-Hand Show Awards Scheme - section winner as a yearling, winning 7 x 1st and 1 x 2nd from 8 outings. This 'pink pony' is a delight: pretty head and a solid construction. Ella has a lovely disposition too - loves people and always wants to be involved in what ever they’re doing! Retired to become a companion and much-loved pet in Yorkshire.

Tawna Twinkle

Sire: Kerswell Nutcracker

Dam: Tawna Razzle Dazzle

Twinkle wowed the judges twice at the S.W.S.P.G. Young Stock shows, winning Champion Foal, and Champion Yearling the next year (standards and minis). Since then has produced a number of outstanding foals - Tia Maria, Tarquin, Trinket 2nd, Twilight, and Luna - by Rubus, and Freckles (a great favourite) by Tawna Tristan. Enjoying a well-deserved retirement as a companion to a riding horse.

Tawna Clarissa

Sire: Kerswell Nutcracker

Dam: Tawna Clementine

A full sister to Clarius - currently on lease to Chesterwood stud in Scotland, and- Golden Shred, formerly at the Milday stud in Scotland, and now standing in Austria, this was our last foal by Nutcracker.

Clarissa is a big-framed, solid, old-fashioned type. We love her sandy eyelashes and mealy muzzle. Tested Mu/N (mushroom carrier). Sold as a breeding mare to the Prengwyn/Marcott studs in Wales.

Tawna Meredith

Sire: Kerswell Nutcracker

Dam: Tawna Mermaid

This one was at the head of the queue when they were dishing out cuteness! She has developed into a substantial girl and is incredibly pretty. Meredith is a full sister to Marina. She is a sweet little girl, but a little bit shy.

After three sad foaling experiences, we withdrew her from the breeding herd and found her a marvellous home as companion to another mini Shetland.

Tawna Saffron

Sire: Kerswell Musketeer

Dam: Tawna Cornish Cream

Besides being very successful in the show ring herself, this stunning girl produced five superb foals, all of which have many wins to their names. Most notable, 4 year old Tawna Basil won the stallion class and the overall Miniature Championship at the 2015 S.P.S-B.S. Breed Show.

Tawna Clementine

Sire: Brandon Fiery Jack

Dam: Tawna Custard Cream

Delightful, elegant and feminine mare. Winner of several Champ & Reserve Championships. Four of her sons are licensed stallions, two are abroad and two in UK including our retained Clarius. We tragically lost Clemmy in 2023. Greatly missed.

Tawna Topsy Turvy

Sire: Tawna Rubus

Dam:  Tawna Razzle Dazzle

Born 09/05/13 32.75”. Topsy was successfully shown as a youngster, winning many prizes in breed classes including Reserve Junior Champion at County level.

A gentle girl, she has patiently accompanied small children in Young Handler classes and fun shows.

We reluctantly sold her but she has only moved to Devon so we will keep in touch.

Tawna Stella

Sire: Tawna Tristan

Dam: Tawna Celeste

This young mare has always been a bit shy in the field, but on the two occasions that we have shown her, she has accepted all preparation, stabling, travelling and showing without a moment’s hesitation. In fact she presents herself beautifully and earned a first prize both times. Sold as a 5 year old to go showing.

Stella is very pretty and has the loveliest blond eyelashes.

Tawna Charisma

Sire: Kerswell Nutcracker

Dam: Tawna Merryn

Born 2006. Her name, "Charisma" sums her up perfectly. One of many gorgeous daughters of Merryn, she is a real little sweetheart.

Rarely shown, but achieved Mini Champion & Reserve Supreme at the 2018 SWSPG summer show.

Charisma has produced several foals, two of which are mushroom in colour - sired by Tawna Rubus.

Two of her sons are licensed stallions - Poldark and Kismet.

We have retained two daughters - Cherie and Chantilly in the stud, and Charisma is now retired from breeding.

Tawna Victoria

Sire: Tawna Rubus

Dam: Tawna Merryn

In 2025 we tragically lost this stunning girl to a mystery affliction at only 12 years old. Luckily we have retained a daughter - Verity.

Vicky was everybody’s favourite: fabulous mane inherited from her grand-sire - Brandon Fiery Jack, via Rubus; amazing shade of chestnut when in prime health; gentle and kind, and so patient with young children.

Tested Mu/N for the mushroom gene. Two of her sons have been licensed, both by Champagne Charlie: T. Viking (mushroom) has already proved himself in the show-ring with several championships.

Tawna Daisy-May

Sire: Tawna Rubus

Dam: Tawna Razzle Dazzle

This beautiful, prize-winning doe-eyed mare has a seriously laid-back attitude to life. Both Daisy's parents are multi champions. For some years we had two more full sisters in the stud.

Once mature, Daisy tended to carry far too much weight for the show ring, but she was a superb brood mare, producing four sweet little fillies by Kerswell Sprite, a stonking filly by Mr Bojangle, and a colt (now licensed) and filly (retained in the stud) by Champagne Charlie.

Now retired from breeding, Daisy has a new life as a companion to a similar Shetland, and is pampered as befits this special girl.
