YOUNGSTOCK FOALS MARES STALLIONS

Tawna Neptune

Sire: Kerswell Russet

Dam: Tawna Mermaid

Born 2008. A really classy young strawberry roan/white stallion. From the moment he was born he possessed that "look at me" factor. Height: 32.75" (83cm). Very lightly shown, his exceptional long-striding free-movement ensured success. He is now being used at a stud in France.

Home-Bred Stallions - sold to other studs

Tawna Dynamic

Sire: Kerswell Musketeer

Dam: Tawna Dinah-Mite

Born 2004. Terrific substance without coarseness, combined with super movement. Only very lightly shown - senior mini champ at the S.W. Group show 2010 & overall miniature champ at Royal Cornwall 2011. Sold to a leading Austrian stud Nov 2011 where he gained Premium grade status, and now in Hungary.

Tawna Honey Bear

Sire: Kerswell Nutcracker

Dam: Tawna Honey-Bea

Born 2007. Sold as a foal and later licensed by the Misty Meadow stud in Kent, Bear was used there before being sold to a Finnish stud in 2011. Photo courtesy of Misty Meadow stud.

Tawna Dundee

Sire: Kerswell Nutcracker

Dam: Tawna Tiptoe

Born 2005. Sold as a foal (with stallion potential), Dundee was later purchased by the Tussilago stud in Northamptonshire where he was licensed and sired over 20 foals. In 2015 bought by the Robins Brae stud in Shetland. His dam was an extremely successful show pony for us. Photo courtesy of Tussilago Stud.

Tawna Bea’s Knees

Sire: Kerswell Musketeer

Dam: Tawna Bizzie Bea

Born 2005. Knees was the last colt we kept by Musketeer. He was quite like his sire in type, substance and outlook. A very attractive young stallion with a lovely gentle nature. Used at the Mignon stud in Devon for several years, and now on the Isle of Man. Photo at 3 years old.

Tawna Basil

Sire: Tawna Rubus

Dam: Tawna Saffron

Born in 2011 Height 32.25” A ‘stand-out’ foal from the beginning, Basil was sold as a foal to the South Park (Fairy) stud and was licensed in 2015. The same year we were thrilled to learn that he was Mini Ring Champion at the SPSBS Breed Show. Sadly, this fabulous young stallion died in tragic circumstances before he had the chance to really make his mark at the stud. ere for pedigree chart

Tawna Cousin Jack

Sire: Kerswell Musketeer

Dam: Tawna Cornish Cream

Born 1996. Jack has won several Championships - he really turns heads when he trots out! His offspring have made their mark in the show ring too. He looks very flashy with his white socks. Used by the Balmedie stud followed by the Milday stud - Edinburgh where he passed away aged almost 28 years old, having left a legacy of fantastic prize-winning stock.ck here for pedigree chart

Tawna Yeoman

Sire: Kerswell Musketeer

Dam: Tawna Milkmaid

Born 1998. One of four full brothers - all licensed stallions, Yeoman’s presence and super markings made him very eye-catching - a really well built little man. A prolific sire, he has produced 75+ foals for various studs.

Tawna Piran

Sire: Kerswell Musketeer

Dam: Tawna Cornish Cream

Born 1998. This gorgeous championship winning stallion oozes quality.  He has a  beautiful head, extravagant movement and gentle nature. We ran him with a few mares & were delighted with his foals, before selling him to the Birling stud in Suffolk.

Tawna Trooper

Sire: Kerswell Musketeer

Dam: Tawna Milkmaid

Born 2000. The striking colouring, and very free movement of Trooper, together with his great presence, make him stand out from the crowd! Owned for most of his breeding life by the Collytown stud, he has produced over 80 foals and his offspring have been consistently successful in the show ring. Photo taken at 17 years old!

Penwarne Firery Jack

Sire: Tawna Sherbert

Dam: Tawna Black Magic

Born 2001. We sold "Eric's" dam when she was carrying him, which is why he has a different prefix although his parents are Tawna -bred. We bought him back as a 2 y.o. and he was licensed in 2004. He produced 44 foals in the UK before going to the Tyeslemore stud in Holland.

Tawna Graffiti

Sire: Kirkstall Achilles

Dam: Tawna Merryn

Born 2010. With his jazzy markings and tremendous presence, Graffiti was an eye-catcher from day one! Purchased from us as a foal, and since licensed by the Ellernbrook stud in Germany we hope this flashy stallion has a great future. Photo courtesy of Ellernbrook stud.

Tawna Petroc

Sire: Kerswell Nutcracker

Dam: Tawna Merryn

Born 2012. Sadly this most attractive young dun and white stallion was too closely related to many of our mares to be of real benefit to us. We would love to have kept him, but it would have been impractical. After licensing him, he was sold to a stud in Hungary where we hope he will produce wonderful stock. Photo taken at 2 years old.

Tawna Smart Alec

Sire: Kerswell Musketeer

Dam: Tawna Custard Cream

Born 1995. Judging by the picture above, this boy was well named! We exported Smart Alec to Holland as a foal. He was later licensed there as a stallion (31.75”), gained Premium grading, and as far as we know has spent all his life in that country.

Tawna Pablo

Sire: Kerswell Nutcracker

Dam: Tawna Pavlova

Born 2005. Sold as a foal with stallion potential, Pablo unfortunately had rather a chequered first few years of his life, but later was licensed, and to date all his foals have been broken coloureds. Licensed height: 32.75”. Photo at 5 months old.

Tawna Golden Shred

Sire: Kerswell Nutcracker

Dam: Tawna Clementine

Born 2015  Height 33”. Has produced some prize-winning stock for the Milday Stud in Scotland, the Moorsbeck stud in Yorkshire, and exported 2021 to the Esperanca stud in Austria Tested Mu/N = mushroom carrier. Apparently he wins over everyone he meets with his wonderful temperament. Photo courtesy of Hannah Akers.

Tawna McVitie

Sire: Tawna Mr Kipling

Dam: Tawna Fanfare

Born in 2002. Mac carried excellent bloodlines, and was an eye-catching stallion with oodles of presence and great strength. We used him on a few unrelated mares before selling him, and he produced a good stamp of foals.

Tawna Sweet William

Sire: Birling Induna

Dam: Tawna Sugar Plum

Born 1985 Height 32” Skewbald.

A most prolific stallion, producing an impressive 116 foals, firstly for the highly regarded Kerswell stud in Devon, then the Strathlene stud, and finally the Mingulay stud in Scotland. Sadly no photo.

Tawna Sage

Sire: Kirkstall Achilles

Dam: Tawna Saffron

Born 2010  Height 32.5”. Sage was out of a lovely mare from our best line of show ponies. He had a tremendous length of rein, neat little head and plenty of mane and tail. Before being sold to Germany, he was leased out in the UK, producing some super, quality foals with attractive heads.

Tawna Orion

Sire: Tawna Rubus

Dam: Tawna Celeste

Born 2020. Height 32.5” Rion was a head-turner from the start - most attractively marked, flashy movement and loads of silky mane and tail. He had the sweetest temperament and was a real pleasure to take in the showring where he was consistently well-placed. We wish him well in his new home in Wales
